5:00pm—Little League Board Meeting Called to Order Approval of Minutes The minutes for the March 1, 2018 Board Meeting were unanimously approved. Coaches: The Board reviewed and voted on the Head Coaches/Managers that have committed so far. Still need a few more and will look at those who volunteered to coach and see if they will step up. Baseball Head Coaches/Managers: Tee Ball LA – Austin Brown, Greg Erpenbeck, Brett Nadler, Amelia, Jessica, Joseph Tee Ball WR – Robert Grant, Heath Watkins Minors B LA – Jonathan Stark, Eric Rich, Brad King, Brett Nadler (?) Minors B WR – Mike Gill, Rodney McCabe Minors A LA – John Harrison, Jordan Garcia, Minors A WR – Jose Rodriquez, Justin Griffin/Allison Watkins Majors – Kane Fisher & Dave Swavely, Scott McDuffy & James Chrobocinski, James Naranjo, Isaac Martinez The Baseball Coach assignments were discussed and reviewed. Marcos Miller and Eric Rich moved that the Board approve the Baseball Coaches. Allison Watkins and Mandy Ferran seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Softball Head Coaches/Managers: Tee Ball LA – (Robbie will get names for the Board) Tee Ball WR – (Robbie will get names for the Board) Minors – Cornelius Reed, Heath & April Wade, Amanda Waldschmit, Hope Jaramillo, Mitch Frank (Only have enough players for 4 teams, but have 5 volunteers. Might possibly end up with enough players for 5 teams.) Majors – Doug Mower, Michaela Robertson, Chris Young Seniors – (Robbie will get names for the Board closer to the season) The Softball Coach assignments were discussed and reviewed. Robbie Harris moved that the Board approve the Softball Coaches. Mandy Ferran seconded the motion.
Motion passed unanimously. Team Size: Discussed the size of teams and got coach feedback. It was decided that teams would be 10 to 11 players. The Board also discussed creating a list of players who would be willing to fill in when teams were short. This would allow all teams to play their games when they had missing players. Try-Outs: Tryouts will start this Saturday, March 17th. Each tryout will be run by the VP of their divisions. Opening Ceremonies: Format: Teams will line-up for the start. Each team and their coach will be introduced. First Pitch will be thrown out by high school players (baseball and/or softball). Board discussed some fun things to do and people to attend. Karmela will help create pamphlets for the opening ceremony (including Papa Murphy information – see below*). Softball Gear: Discussed softball gear purchase. List of equipment to purchase: Practice Nets – 6 (3 for LA and 3 for WR) Tanner Tees – 5 boxes (x 60) Batting helmets – (need to get a number) Ruckets (weighted balls) – 2 sets Softball Bats – 1 (majors) 2 (minors) 1 (seniors) Softball Masks – (need to get a number) Softball Gear Purchase was discussed and reviewed. Robbie Harris moved that the Board approve the Softball Gear Purchase. Eron Kerstiens seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Helmets: Softball would like to encourage or require face masks for ALL the infield players. The board and coaches thoroughly discussed the issue. The Board agreed to require face masks be worn by all infielders (including Pitchers and Catchers) for all levels of softball. The Helmet Requirement was discussed and reviewed. Robbie Harris moved that the Board approve the Helmet Requirement. Allison Watkins seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Umpires: Umpire training is scheduled for Sunday, March 25th, 11:30am at Lou Caveglia Field in Los Alamos. Coaches should attend. Registration: A complete registration list will be pulled and sent out to the VP’s on Saturday, March 17th. Fundraising:
Araceli and Carissa are still looking for donations. Handed out a spreadsheet of donors who have been contacted and who have made donations. *Papa Murphy’s fundraiser will be on opening day. Flyers with coupons will be given out to all the attendees. LACLL Logo Contest: New design is almost completed. James will be sending out the logo options for the Board to vote on soon. Treasure Report: Treasurer reviewed the finances. Everything looked good. Safety Meeting: Scheduled for April 5th 5:30 to 6:30. This will occur in conjunction with the coaches meeting. Background Checks: The costs of background checks might increase because of the number of checks required. The Board will need to provide all required background checks as needed. The increased cost of background checks was discussed and reviewed. Kane Fisher moved that the Board approve the funding of the increased cost of background checks. Araceli Trujillo seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Uniforms: Last year the cost of uniforms was $18,000 (baseball) and $13,000 (softball). This year the board is hoping the costs will be considerably lower. James was able to get Baseball shirt and hat combos for $19. Robbie will investigate softball options and get a proposal back to the Board. Equipment Distribution: VP’s need to show up and get their team equipment on Friday, March 16th at noon. The location will be the equipment shed at the North Mesa fields. 7:10pm—Meeting Adjourned Email Vote: Several emails went out during the week of March 19th – March 22nd. The emails included needed approval of additional head coaches/managers, equipment purchases and the new LACLL logo. We held email votes and all 18 items from the emails passed. The email information was: We need to approve several head coaches(AKA Managers) and equipment purchases. On line 10 I did add in a catch all in case we need an additional coach or two. Equipment Approvals: 11. 12 Tee Ball bats - We have 11 very old bats. I would like to provide 1 old and 1 new bat per team. $214.08 ($16.97 ea, free shipping) 12. Nail Drag mat in order to better prep our fields when needed. It can be pulled by the golf cart or ATV that I have provided.$266.50 ($176.00 + 91.50 shipping) 13.
