Love Notes INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Tim's Tidbits Elderly Expressions Ministry Moments Birthdays & Anniversaries
Tim's Tidbits
By Tim Grasham
Stuff happens! That's what we're talking about over the next several weeks at Community. Good stuff happens. Bad stuff happens. And it happens to all of us! The question is...How do we respond to the stuff? Are we looking for how God might be working in the stuff?
Friends, Fellowship & Food
Community Christian Church exists to invite people to experience a real life of joy, freedom, and grace through a real faith in God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, and lived out in a real community with the love, support, and encouragement of others on life's journey.
Community Christian Church P. O. Box 491
Paul wrote in Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." God wants good stuff to happen IN us and not just TO us. As a parent, I understand this principle. I want good stuff to happen to my boys. However, I want good stuff to happen IN them even more. I want them to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. And that means that sometimes I have to discipline my kids so that they become men of character. Friends, God wants good things to happen IN you!! He wants you to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus. He wants you to be available to him each and every day, willing to go where he sends you. Bad stuff may happen to you, but through that, God can sometimes develop good stuff IN you! On another note, my prayer for each of us is that, as we enter the Lenten season heading toward Easter, is that we would seek God in a more personal way. Maybe rather than subtracting something from our lives, we need to add a bit more of God. Let's be looking for God in our everyday life more and more. "How can I show God's love to the person I'm with at this moment?" "How is God working in my circumstances to develop his character within me?" Let's add more of God to our lives!!

Elderly Expressions Steve Woods Why did Jesus cry “My God, my God” from the cross? He was made “sin for us, who knew no sin”(2 Corinthians 5:21). God separated Himself from Him, and as a result God the Father, the Son were divided at that moment when the Son was made sin. I think it’s highly appropriate that He said, “My God,” and not “My Father” at a time like that, because sin puts you and me in the position today where we are not sons of God. We are not sons of God until we come to Christ and receive Him as Savior. Now, a savior is a savior from something. What’s He a savior from? He’s a savior from sin! He’s a savior from the penalty of sin, a Savior from the presence of sin, and he’s a Savior from the power of sin. I didn’t give it in chronological order. He saved us from the penalty of sin by His death over 2000 years ago, He can save us today from the power of sin by the Holy Spirit, and He’s going to save us someday from the presence of sin when He takes us to a place where there is no sin. And if He gets us there, the sin question is sure going to have to be settled in our hearts and in our lives, because we’re told that no sin is going to enter into that city. Missions Kelsey Dunham One of our own will be going on a mission this summer. Please read her letter to Community.
Dear Community Christian Family, At the beginning of the summer, I will be heading to Nicaragua for 8 days with the Nicaragua Resource Network (NRN). I will be going with a group of 20 members of the Purdue Co-op Houses. The co-op houses at

Purdue are a large community of scholars who live and grow together as students. Of the 12 houses, many are represented on this trip and there is no other group I would rather go with on my first mission trip. Our team will be going to a large village outside Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, called Los Brasilles. We will be helping NRN to build a new school in the community. Also, we will be distributing food, necessities, and donated supplies to the local impoverished community. I am in charge of organizing food distribution, team fundraising, and capturing all of the memories from this trip as the team photographer. On a more personal note, I am currently in my last semester of classes at Purdue University before moving on to student teaching during the fall semester. I will be graduating in December with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. Last summer I was blessed to work as a camp counselor at McAllister Recreation Center and will be doing so again this summer. When I can, I also attend Community Christian Church in Frankfort, where I have been blessed with an incredible church family who has greatly supported me throughout my journey. This trip costs $1300, which goes to support the construction of the school, as well as the food and supply distribution. I would greatly appreciate your support through prayer and also financial help. I am very excited and cannot wait to see what God has in store for our team as we venture down to Nicaragua. Thank you all and God bless! A special love offering will be collected for Kelsey on March 5, during the close of our worship time. If you are unable to attend on the 5th and would like to support Kelsey financially, please make your check out to Community Christian Church and put Kelsey Dunham Nicaragua in the memo line.
MARCH IS ALSO PEANUT BUTTER MONTH! The church will be collecting peanut butter to send to Haiti through Life Line Missions. Any style or brand of peanut butter is appreciated. The 16 ounce size is the best size to donate. There will be a box by the Welcome Center. Our goal last year was 100 jars and we surpassed it. Let's see if we can do even better this year!

February 18th was so much fun and several projects were either started or finished. Our net profit for the day was $120 with $70 going to the Delphi girls fund for funeral expenses and the $50 will be spent for a camp Emmaus scholarship. Many thanks to Jennifer Durbin and her friend Cyndy for providing food and quilting instruction.

On March 27th, at 7:00 pm, we'll have a training session where we show you what it's like up there. Feel free to come if you want to help out or if you're just curious. COMMMUNITY IN THE COMMUNITY Some of our kids (and yes they are our kids) are active in the community. If you see any of our kids (however young or old), please send me a picture at
