Jessica & Brandon 07.12.2014

ALHAMBRA HALL Mount Pleasant couple, Jessica & Brandon, kept everything close to home for their Charleston wedding, starting with a rainy day proposal at the Pitt Street Bridge. Brandon’s plans to propose to Jessica on a Friday evening were almost foiled when she decided on an impromptu, post-work shopping trip. Upon her return home, anxious Brandon was adamant that they take a quick bike ride so their dog, Moose, could get some exercise before they headed out for the night. Jessica obliged, even though it had started raining. They made their way to the Old Pitt Street Bridge where Jessica spotted a beautiful bouquet of flowers sitting on a bench. As they got closer, Brandon handed Jessica the bouquet and, on bended knee, asked for her hand in marriage in the same spot his late father had proposed to his mother some thirty years earlier.. Just like that, the dreary day turned into a memorable celebration. As guests arrived for their July nuptials, they were welcomed with bags full of Lowcountry specialties, including Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, Charleston Chew and assorted teas from Charleston Tea Plantation. The day started with a traditional ceremony at St. Andrew’s Church where Jessica dazzled in a strapless gown with a lace bodice and ruffled skirt from Fabulous Frocks. She

carried a striking bouquet of king proteas and peonies designed by Fox Events that was hand-tied with a black and white striped ribbon. Standing at her side were her twelve bridesmaids who wore lace dresses from DV by Dolce Vita in a soft shade of blush. Brandon and his groomsmen all wore classic black tuxedos with black bow ties. Brandon completed his look with a gift from Jessica—a red paisley pocket square. Jessica imagined classic décor with whimsical touches for her Alhambra Hall reception and the creative crew at Fox Events brought her vision to life. Chic black and white striped linens set the stage for a Kate Spade-inspired event where bold centerpieces in mirrored vases topped the tables. Ruffled linens that mimicked Jessica’s skirt covered the cocktail tables on the outdoor patio. Two separate lounge areas flanked the stage to give guests a spot to relax while others made their way to the black and white checkered dance floor to the tunes of Mo’ Sol. To make sure the dance party started early, the festivities began with ‘The Dollar Dance’, an old Pittsburgh tradition, where guests formed a line and threw in a few dollars for the chance to dance with the bride or groom. Bridesmaids then offered each guest a shot as they began to form a dance circle around the couple. It was the perfect way to start the celebration! In honor of their home states, South Carolina and Pennsylvania, the couple worked with Café Catering to create a menu of Lowcountry staples (buttermilk & sweet potato biscuits, pimento cheese and shrimp & grits) and Pittsburgh favorites (Primanti Bros.-style sandwiches and pierogies). As the evening came to a close, the newlyweds jumped into a camouflage golf cart that had been decorated by their friends with streamers, balloons and a ‘“Just Married” sign.
