roofing, wood floors, coconut wood columns and Palimanan stone walls further exemplify the Balinese motif. The Japanese themed villas differ by architecture and design and reflect a definite Japanese aesthetic represented by clean lines and modern-minimal composition. A Karesansui [Zen] garden graces the entranceway that then opens up into the main living area and surrounding bedroom structures. The materials used include ironwood roof shingles, polished hardwood floors, and also feature high windows that bring to mind traditional Shoji screens. A 20-metre lap pool is bookended by floating pavilions with sunken sitting areas encompassed by elegant lotus ponds.

LUXURY REDEFINED ‘Heaven on Earth’ reads the cover of the Basraman Pangahwan brochure, while the caption header ‘A Lifestyle of Bliss Awaits You’ follows on the first page. While one may consider these rather lofty claims, upon further investigation it becomes evident that several aspects of this unique property development exist to substantiate these assertions. Although the term ‘luxury’ is one of the most ubiquitous in describing Bali villas, certainly none come close to the level of lavishness that Basraman Pangahwan promises to offer in terms of amenities and 7-star service. Five personal staff including chauffeur accompany each unit so that nothing else is left to be desired. Airport pickups via chopper or chauffeured Bentley are now a possibility.
