LYAA CHEERLEADING HANDBOOK

Welcome cheerleaders, parents & coaches!! Please read over the following rules and guidelines carefully. LYAA would like to implement these rules and guidelines to ensure that we have a wellorganized and successful cheerleading season. In addition to the LYAA Code of Conduct, we respectfully ask that all Cheerleaders, Coaches and Parents abide by these rules and guidelines. General Rules:

Please abide by the following rules

1. Please be on time to practices and games. If you are going to be late or will be absent please contact your coach directly if possible. 2. No gum or food. Water breaks will be called at coach’s discretion. 3. During Practice & game times please remain with your team, no running around gym or field. 4. Squad members are not allowed to leave the field at games, except for emergencies in which they will be chaperoned by a coach. If a squad member needs to leave the field for any other reason a coach will chaperon them at all times. 5. Please listen to your coach. Please no talking during instruction time. 6. LYAA uniforms and poms are required for all games (see game and performance attire for details). 7. Appropriate attire must be worn at all practices. This includes tennis shoes, comfortable clothing, non-restricting clothing (no jeans, dresses or skirts) 8. Squad member must be on time to games and practices unless the coach has been notified previously. 9. Follow the rules. During practices and games, the coach in in charge. LYAA ask that parents remain on the sidelines and allow the coach to direct the girls. 10. Respect your coaches, parent helpers & other squad members. 11. Most of all have FUN! Game & Performance Attire

Required Uniform (shell & skirt) Brief White “no show” socks Hair Bow Hair in pony tail Poms White tennis shoes

Optional Black or white bodysuit Black or white leggings Warm up jacket Warm up pants (the decision to wear black or white is up to the coach)

Please make sure squad member is dressed appropriately for each game especially when the weather begins to get colder. Bodysuit or something similar will be required when the weather gets a little cooler.

All rules and decisions are under the discretion of the Cheerleading Director and the LYAA Executive Board.
