Attendance & Punctuality Sadly we missed our whole school target last week with 95.60%. However well done to the following classes: Mekong, Waikato and Orinoco, who had the highest attendance figure with 99.30%. Two classes managed to have no late children which is great – Nile and Mekong! Let’s see if we can improve on our figures next time.
Theme of the Week This week is a really important week – “say no to bullying”. We have been talking to the children about different types of bullying and how to deal with it. We also taught the children a good way of recognising if it is bullying: STOP – Several Times On Purpose. We will be focusing on this theme for two weeks. Please talk to your child about it and share ideas as to what they should do if they feel they are being bullied, they know someone else is being bullied or they know someone is doing the bullying! International Evening We would like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who came to support the International Evening. It was so lovely to see so many families walking around soaking up the atmosphere. The vision of Mr Grace and his country dancing will remain with us for a long time! Thank you to Ebere Nwokenna and her team of parents who helped organise the event and thank you to everyone who donated some food – it was the first year we didn’t run out of food! If anyone would like to share their thoughts on International Week/Evening, please come along to the school office and fill out a feedback form. Your views will help create next year’s event!
Missing Jacket Dedeca (Mekong Class) has lost her jacket. It’s a green M&S jacket but sadly doesn’t have her name in it. It’s age 5 – 6 yrs and was lost on 18th November. Please have a good look at home to make sure your child hasn’t picked up the wrong jacket by mistake, thank you. PE Kit Please can we remind all parents that children are to bring in PE kits to change into before their PE session. They are not supposed to come into school already wearing their kit. This is for hygiene reasons and to make sure they have a dry kit to wear for PE. School Council Our new School Council have started meeting on a weekly basis and are raring to go with lots of ideas. Here is a list of the current members and the classes they represent: Ruby – Danube, Olivia – Thames, Noa – Nile, Mila – Mekong, Lola – Waikato, Christian – Yangtze, Billy – Yarra, Deniz – Ganges, Petra – Amazon, Rebecca – Rio Grande, Muna – Hudson, Rowan – Volga, Zian – Orinoco, Darcy – Mississippi and Molly – Zambezi. Our two joint chair members are Rebecca and Olivia and our deputy chair is Molly – congratulations to all of you! The first job school council will be doing is volunteering at the Winter Fair.
Please turn over for more news, PTA Winter Fair information and dates for your diary.
Computers Galore A huge thank you to Mr Labi, Martha and Nancy’s father (Hudson and Mekong) for a very generous donation of 15 computers! There was an upgrade at his work so we are now benefitting from the older computers. We are very, very grateful and will be setting them up as soon as we can ready for the staff and pupils to use. Once again, thank you very much!
