Follow-up activity Stick or draw on the board a large map of the children’s country, and highlight or check several key cities around the country. Stick or draw weather symbols on the map (you can copy simple ones from Language Book Unit 13). Tell the children this was the weather yesterday in the country. Tell them they have 30 seconds to memorise the weather in the different cities. Then have them turn away, and ask them questions: e.g. Was it sunny in Cairo yesterday? Was it raining in Alexandria? The children call out: Yes, it was or No, it wasn’t. Move the symbols around and have the children continue the game in pairs, asking and answering Was it …? questions.
