Main Street Wine Crawl

Ellicott City, MD Graduate Submission - Studio Project As a Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability project, the urban design studio was given the opportunity to design a new master plan for historic Ellicott City, MD. This location proved difficult due to extreme topography changes and environmental considerations. The studio split into several sub-teams to investigate the entirety of historic of the area. We formed a task force to address issues arising from the Main Street corridor. The Main Street corridor houses a plethora of historical development capable of fostering event spaces. The interventions seek to supplement Main Street activities with strategic locations that enhance the experience of the historic district. Each location would propose a key moment as part of an experience along the unifying activity – a wine crawl. The proposed architecture would use contemporary features and styles to provide contrast that would enhance and elicit the historic character of adjacent buildings.
