Responsible To - Camp Director General Responsibilities 1.

Involvement in the total camp program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, campfire programs, children with problems, evening programs, etc.

2.

Promote observance of the spiritual emphasis of the program and the moral and ethical code affecting campers and staff.

3.

Attend and contribute at staff meetings.

4.

Share with Camp Director all matters of concern relating to the total welfare of the camp, staff and campers.

5.

Responsible to observe set curfew.

Specific Responsibilities 1. Work under the direction of the Camp Director to ensure a safe, clean camp (Maintain the grounds and facilities to reduce the risk of danger and/or injury to persons using the camp). 2. Picking up staff members at airports, bus stops, etc. during pre-camp (before Staff Development), post-camp and before and after all staff breaks. 3. While in season, be available to do any driving that is required. This includes transporting children, staff and running errands. 4. Teach and monitor proper use of seat belts, safe loading and unloading, proper behavior and other aspects of vehicle safety. -1-

Maintenance Assistant & Driver 5. Check vehicles before and after each trip for gas, oil, tire pressure and damage, etc 6. Keep mileage records on all trips, number of participants, destination, time of departure and arrival. 7. Clean and maintain vehicles with complete first aid kit, fire extinguisher, reflectors, and other safety equipment, coordinating vehicle repairs with the Camp Director. 8. Be familiar with and follow procedures for reporting accidents, injuries, incidents, safety checks, backing up, loading and unloading, and vehicle breakdown. 9. Assist in loading, unloading, transporting equipment, and stocking canteen. 10. Assist in the opening and closing of camp with parking Corps vehicles and other duties as assigned by Camp Director. 11. Share responsibility with others, as assigned, to be on duty in evenings to clean up after evening program. 12. Complete Work Assignments - communicate daily with the Camp Director to set up a workable and productive schedule. Such a schedule may include, but will not be limited to: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i.

Empty and clean all garbage and trash containers Maintain cleanliness and order of porch and asphalt areas Assist with the loading, unloading and carrying of camper luggage. Equip and maintain Hilltop and Village cabins with supplies as necessary. Assist with services to staff and campers as directed by Leadership staff. Clean and set-up Tabernacle for various programs Clean and equip Health Center with necessary supplies. Clean and equip Administration Office with necessary supplies. Maintain cleanliness of campgrounds.

Additional Responsibilities 1. Offer assistance and support to all program areas as assigned. 2. Assist Program Director and Assistant Program Director in planning and preparation for total – camp activities. 3. Assist with preparation of tabernacle and other buildings for opening and closing days, Sundays, and other special programs. Preparation includes cleaning, moving chairs, sweeping, and vacuuming. 4. On opening and closing days assist with the unloading and loading of camper’s luggage. 5. Take part in evening programs as assigned by Program Director.

Maintenance Assistant & Driver 6. Arrive at least ten minutes early to scheduled work assignments, evening programs, meetings, etc., to assist or lead in set-up or preparation of programs. 7. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings. Staff Responsibilities 1. Clean living area daily. 2. Work as a team player. 3. Committed to the development of campers spiritually, physically, educationally, emotionally, and socially. 4. Willing to work with all staff members regardless of their positions. 5. Maintain a high level of interaction with campers and staff. 6. Be a constructive member of the staff contributing in every way possible to the health, harmony, and happiness of the Star Lake Camp family. 7. Pray that each camper comes to know Christ as Savior. 8. Attend weekly staff Bible studies. These take place one evening per session. 9. Attend Sunday morning staff worship. 10. Voice criticisms to the Camp Director first. 11. Be in accord with camp aims and policies, being loyal to camp at all times. 12. Assist where needed for the benefit of the campers and the smooth operation of the camp. 13. Respond positively to the direction of the Program Director when he/she makes schedule changes. Essential Responsibilities 1. Ability to participate fully in the total camp program*. 2. Ability to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skills levels, and provide necessary instruction to campers and/or staff. 3. Physical ability to respond appropriately and quickly to situations requiring first aid. 4. Cognitive and communicative abilities to plan and conduct activities that achieve camper development objectives.

Maintenance Assistant & Driver 5. Ability to identify and respond to hazards. Must be able to assist campers in emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury). 6. Respond immediately to assigned area in the event of a missing camper alarm.

These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

*Please note that full participation means that although you may not have an assigned responsibility you are required to attend and participate in the various daily programs of camp, such as evening programs, camper worship, cabin devotions, etc…
