Working in collaboration with the Regional Director, Western Canada, the Major Gifts Officer is directly accountable for more than $300K in revenues from both individual and corporate donors. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the major donor program for The Children's Wish Foundation, Alberta/Saskatchewan. They are integral of the campaign team and responsible for solicitation of gifts as well as cultivation and stewardship. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated fundraiser to secure major gifts in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Primary Responsibilities: Strategic
Works with the Regional Director and National Manager, Major/Planned Giving to establish a volunteer More Wishes, More Wonders Campaign Cabinet. Supports the work of the Campaign Cabinet. In partnership with the Regional Director, develops strategies to increase revenue in the Major Gifts portfolio which contributes to the overall fundraising goals of the organization. Works collaboratively with the MWMW Cabinet to identify prospective donors from within and outside of The Children's Wish Foundation existing network. Manages effective systems for tracking and cultivating donors, and prospect donors through Raiser's Edge. Participates in the planning and implementation of project related donor events and activities to engage and educate donors and prospects. Plans and implements donor recognition projects and events, liaising with staff regarding existing events to which donors will be invited.
Development
Manages a minimum of 100 individual prospects and corporate donors in AB/SK.
Identifies new prospects and works directly or through volunteers to initiate dialogue. Meets existing activity targets and builds relationships via the phone, email and face to face visits solicitations for both immediate and deferred planned gifts. Facilitates gift agreements. Act as a representative for the Foundation by conducting presentations at various meetings and events as required.
Qualifications: Education
Post-secondary education CFRE or equivalent professional designation is preferred Strong understanding of charity sector and not-for-profit organizations.
Experience and Training
Minimum 5 years of experience of direct fundraising experience preferably with proven success at cultivating, securing, and/or stewarding major gifts. Highly self- motivated and directed. Experience in the direct ask role at the $2000+ level with proven results in successfully cultivating and soliciting donors and prospects. Strong knowledge of local and provincial donors and prospects; existing familiarity and relationships with these donors and prospects preferred. Knowledge of effective fundraising strategies and techniques for growing nonprofits; thorough and specific knowledge of the principles and techniques of major giving moves management. Demonstrated ability to understand prospect identification and planned giving techniques. Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to motivate and persuade with tact and diplomacy. Proficient in the use of MSOffice, with knowledge of The Raiser's Edge. Strong knowledge of and ability to articulate tax benefits of giving. Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information appropriately and to demonstrate excellent judgement when communicating with our about donors and/or prospects. Valid Driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle is a requirement for this position.
