Makaton: Enhanced Course Clair Jones/Sue Ely The best way to learn Makaton is to attend a workshop. It means that you learn with other people, share your experiences, receive feedback on your signing and symbol work and enables you to practice with others. It also gives you the opportunity to meet and build a relationship with a Makaton Tutor, who can help and support you in the future.

Target Audience: SENCOs , teachers and support staff working with children who have a severe learning difficulty. Course summary The Enhancement Workshop concentrates on improving and developing signing and symbol skills. You will learn translation skills using signs and symbols. Entry Criteria: Participants must have completed the Foundation Workshop. The aims of this course:  Lectures examine the assessment of users’ needs, adapting communication to suit an individual’s needs and how to develop communication skills.  You will revise the signs and symbols you learned on the Foundation workshop and learn the signs and symbols for Stages 5-8 of the Core Vocabulary. Study Materials: You will be given a certificate of attendance. Please remember to keep your Enhancement Workshop certificate in case you want to attend further Makaton training. The Enhancement Workshop is made up of 6 modules which will be delivered over 3 full days. Cost: £230 per delegate (lunch is included) Venue: The Orchard School, Causeway Green Rd. The full delegate fee will not be charged but a cancellation fee of £20 will apply. We regret that cancellations received after ten days prior to the event will be charged in full.
