Manager of Grounds Maintenance
Manager of Grounds Maintenance Worlds of Fun has an immediate opening for the position of Manager of Grounds Maintenance in Kansas City, Missouri. This full time position will report to our Director of Construction & Maintenance. JOB SUMMARY: Worlds of Fun is looking for an experienced landscaping leader who is ready to accept the challenge of taking our guest experience to the next level. This individual will be directly involved in telling our story and shaping our guest experience through the landscaping in our parks. As a leader in the attractions industry, we are transforming our in-park experiences through the addition of best-in-class facilities and events that will take us from a seasonal amusement park to a near yearround entertainment center. QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED 5-7 years of experience in professional landscape design and maintenance including 3 or more years of management or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid state driver’s license. Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law. Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law. Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the growth, maintenance and enhancement of the landscaping at Worlds of Fun. This includes planning, supervising and participating in the management of 15,000 square feet of greenhouse space; the planting and maintenance of over one acre of floral and tropical beds; the planting and intensive maintenance of 35 acres of inpark turf and over 100 acres of low-maintenance turf outside of the parks, including manual and mechanical seeding and chemical application to fertilize and control weeds, mowing with power and riding lawn mower/tractors and irrigation; the planting and intensive maintenance of several thousands of transplanted trees and shrubs and the maintenance of over 100 acres of native trees and shrubs. Selects, trains, schedules, and supervises all Landscaping employees. Makes sure employees are knowledgeable of and proficient in proper procedures. Takes disciplinary action when appropriate. Prepares the annual Landscaping Department operating expense and labor budgets. Monitors expenses throughout the year and takes corrective action if necessary. Researches, negotiates purchase terms for and procures all supplies needed for the department. Supervises and participates in the wash-down of Worlds of Fun. Using high-powered hoses, cleans midways, curbs, queue lines, ride pads, restaurant patios, back areas and dumpster yards. Oversees the maintenance and repair of midways and parking lots. Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment. Other duties may be assigned.
