MANZANILLO METHODIST CHURCH In 2017, Birmingham First entered into a “sister congregation” relationship with the Methodist Church of Manzanillo, Cuba. Since 1992, when the government in Cuba passed a law allowing for freedom of religion, the Methodist church in Cuba has experienced rapid and constant growth. At present there are 400 Methodist churches in Cuba with 42,000 members. As sister congregations, we pray for each other and Birmingham First will send a Volunteer In Mission work team to Manzanillo in March of 2017.
HOW YOU CAN HELP • Pray for the members of the Manzanillo Methodist Church. • Make a donation toward the children’s lunch program, the audio equipment or a vehicle.
The most pressing needs of the Manzanillo church are: • Repairing the church building. The congregation has only been able to afford minor repairs to the building that is 63 years old and there is a need now to do more major repairs. • Provide lunch for children. The congregation provides lunch to 50 – 60 children every Sunday and needs financial help to continue this program. • Purchase audio equipment for worship services. The current equipment can no longer be repaired and they need approximately $4,500 to purchase new equipment. • Purchase a vehicle. The pastors and congregation give support and assistance to members living in remote areas in the Sierra Maestra district and need a vehicle in order to reach them.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” and I said,
