LIFE GROUP GUIDE

CHRIST CENTRAL CHURCH

FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 4
“commUNITY” (2 Cor 7:2-16) - Brent Smith LIFE GROUP LEADERS: Remember, these questions are just guides. Feel free to use some of them in your discussion, but don’t feel you have to ask all of them.

STUDY QUESTIONS. 1. Was there anything that stood out to you on Sunday as interesting, impactful, or difficult to understand?
 2. When you read of Paul’s relationship to the Corinthians (2 Cor 7:2-4 for example) and the joy and the pain that it caused him, does it grow or weaken your desire for that level of community in your Christian life?
 3. How does reading that Paul had “fighting without and fears within” encourage you in your own Christian life?
 4. What is the difference between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow? Have there been times in your life when you have experienced these in your own life? Paul says that godly sorrow is not enough and that it must lead to repentance, why is this the case?
 5. All three of the “instruments” God used to bring Paul out of his downcast state (the visit from Titus, the repentance of the Corinthians, Titus’ joy) happened in community. Do you believe that community is one of the main instruments God uses to bring us comfort and joy? If so, why do we tend to pull back into isolation when we are downcast?
 6. How can we as a life group, and as a church, grow into the level of community we see here with Paul and the Corinthians?
