Enabling a Child to Experience Camp As you know, we have reserved spots at summer camps for our youth and children! And we are excited! We are in need of a few sponsorships. SPONSORSHIP We try to make it so that a lack of money does not interfere with children being able to go to camp. Many of the children would not be able to go if balance due was left solely on their families to come up with all the money. That’s why we are asking for your support. If you would like to help a child to go to camp, then please pray to see how God would want you to give. Please follow the following steps in making a donation for camp as a sponsor. 1.) List your name on an offering envelope, & the amount you are giving, and beside that amount the words, “KidSalt” or “SummerSalt.” 2.) If you would like to support a specific child, then please see Ty Standridge for a child’s name. 3.) If you are a parent paying for your own child, put their name on the envelope. Please make the effort to follow these simple steps as it helps the church office to maintain good records for you. Thank you in advance for investing in God’s kingdom by investing in a child. Through your generosity, some children will come to know Christ as Savior. Others will be cultivated so that they are closer to coming to know Christ. Still others will grow in their relationship with Christ. CHILDREN Our children will be going to KidSalt – July 17-20, 2017. The actual cost of camp per camper is $184. Our church pays $92 of this cost in order to make it more affordable. The parents of the campers are asked to pay the remaining $92. After April 1, 2017 deposits are non-refundable. We ask for a $50 deposit right away to hold the availability of the room. YOUTH The youth will be attending SummerSalt @ White Oak, June 12-16,2017. The actual costs of camp per camper is $240 Our church will pay $120 of the total cost to reduce the financial burden on the child’s parents. The remaining $120 is requested to be paid by the parents. We ask that a $50 deposit be paid in order to hold a spot. After April 1, 2017 deposits are non-refundable. If you would like to go as a chaperone with us to camp this summer, please see Ty for more details. For every seven same-gender students, one adult chaperone is required to attend Summersalt. Anyone that is attending KidSalt or SummerSalt that is 18 years old or older MUST complete a security screening in order to attend.
Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word “purpose” as: “something set up as an object or end to be attained.” Their website also has what it calls a “Learner's definition of PURPOSE” defining purpose as “the reason why something is done or used: the aim or intention of something.” Looking at these definitions causes us to ask, “Just what is my purpose for the remaining time God gives me on planet Earth?” Just as it is wise for us to review what our individual God-given purpose is, it is also wise to ask ourselves as a church body what is our church’s purpose. In March, I will begin addressing the purposes of the church in a series of messages. Those purposes are worship, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and evangelism. Please join me in praying for Pleasant View Baptist Church as we reexamine what the Scriptures say is the purpose for our church’s existence and how we as individual church members might help fulfil that purpose. Serving Christ together, Pastor Glenn
