Background The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is an open-access festival and is the largest arts festival in the world. In 2016, there were 50,266 performances of 3,269 shows in 294 venues across Edinburgh and an estimated 2,475,143 tickets were issued. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is the charity that organises the structure which underpins the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Society exists to advise, support and encourage all participants at the Fringe, to provide comprehensive information services, including ticketing, to its participants and the public, and to promote the entire Fringe as a festival. Reporting jointly to the Head of Participant Services and the Head of Marketing, PR and Sponsorship, your primary responsibility will be marketing the services provided to participants by the Fringe Society, but you will also take responsibility for recruiting and supervising the temporary Show Registration team, ensuring all shows are registered and ready to go online and in the Fringe Programme. Role and responsibilities Your duties will include: • working with the Head of Marketing, PR and Sponsorship to develop a marketing strategy that supports the successful delivery and increases awareness and usage of the services provided to participants throughout the year; • acting as liaison between Marketing, PR and Sponsorship and Participant Services teams in the development and implementation of the strategy; • working with specialists across the Marketing, PR and Sponsorship team to deliver on time and on budget multi-channel marketing; • managing the Participant Services marketing budget; • informing marketing effort and improving service provision through research, data collection and analysis; • providing event support at information sessions and participant events; • working with the Website and Digital Development Manager to continually develop and improve the ‘take part’ area of edfringe.com; • managing and improving participant information; • providing writing, proofing and editing services for the Society as required; • supporting the Marketing and Advertising Coordinator to ensure the Society’s style guides are up to date and adhered to across the Society; Marketing and Registration Coordinator job description (March 2017) Page 1 of 3

providing general marketing support across the Society as required; supervising the process of registration for all Fringe shows - ensuring they are ready to go online and in the Fringe programme; providing support and advice to participants and venues on the show registration process; proofing and editing show registrations; annual recruitment of the temporary Show Registration team; supervision of the Show Registration team; delivering or overseeing team training on edfringeware (bespoke show registration system); working with the Participant Services team, the Box Office team, and Fringe participants to improve and streamline processes involved in show registration; supporting the Designer throughout the programme production process ensuring deadlines are met and the programme is fully proofed and delivered to the printers; providing liaison and relationship management with key stakeholders throughout the registration process including venue managers.

Person specification Essential • Demonstrable experience within a marketing role (preferably client-side). • Experience of contributing to the development and implementation of marketing strategies. • Proofing and editing skills. • Experience of managing and communicating complex processes, involving multiple stakeholders. • Experience of staff recruitment and supervision. • Creative and flexible in response to problem solving. • Excellent organisational and time management skills. • The ability to prioritise conflicting demands across a varied workload. • Thorough and accurate, with excellent attention to detail. • Technically literate with the proven ability to quickly learn new systems. Desirable • Marketing qualification; • Experience of working with registration or database systems; • Experience within a publications, editing or copy writing role; • Experience in a box office environment; • Experience of writing for the web; • Experience within a festival, event, arts or cultural organisation. • Knowledge and understanding of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and its stakeholders; Marketing and Registration Coordinator job description (March 2017) Page 2 of 3

Salary and benefits The salary for this post is circa £25,000 per annum, plus 4.5% employer pension contribution. 28 days’ holiday per year plus six public holidays. Normal working hours are 10:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. Some additional evening and weekend work may be required, particularly during the show registration and programme production period. There is no overtime entitlement, but the Society does maintain a TOIL policy.
