Marriage Equality Service Held at Christ Church
Marriage Equality Service Held at Christ Church The Episcopal Diocese of Nevada conducted a Holy Eucharist in Celebration of Marriage Equality at Christ Church on December 11th. The Rev. Dr. Barry Vaughn, rector preached the service and the Rt. Rev. Dan Edwards presided over this special celebration of Marriage Equality in Nevada. Approximately 50 people attended the service which was a “celebration of the progress that has been made, but also an acknowledgement of the hurt and wrong that has happened up to this point, and recognition that it is an ongoing struggle to heal that relationship,” said Bishop Edwards. “It is also a reminder that built into our baptism vows we must respect the dignity of every human being.” The Rev. Barry Vaughn reflected in his sermon the theology’s separation of the spirit and the physical and the recent change in the church at large, becoming more welcoming to all.
