MSD HSSAC Charge

The HSSAC is charged to study the high school daily schedule to accommodate programming related to the following:

•College and career readiness •Core 24 credit requirements •Equal access for all students •Rich elective opportunities •Enrichment for students •Interventions for students

•Room for error should a course be failed •Student/teacher collaboration •Project-based learning utilizing our one to one technology initiative

Recommendations must include financial considerations. Final recommendation presented to the Superintendent June of 2017

Middle School Our work to date has been to build in opportunities for middle school students to earn high school credit and provide additional credit earning opportunities while in high school 0.5 credit for Washington State History, 1.0 Algebra, 1.0 Spanish, 1.0 Select CTE Courses

High School Once in High School students can earn .25 credit in grades 9 -12 for successful completion of the High School & Beyond Plan curriculum (Naviance) In addition, eligible students will have the opportunity to take STAMP tests to demonstrate competency/proficiency and earn credit(s) in world language(s).

School Board Work Adopted policy 2418 - Waiver of High School Graduation Credits. A student or his/her parents/guardians may request a waiver of up to two elective credits during his/her year of expected graduation from high school due to unusual circumstances. Adopted 2409 - Credit for Competency-Proficiency. This policy is currently in place for competency/proficiency credit in world languages (We are seeking to expand the policy to include multiple subjects).
