We have representatives from the city, tribes, school district, local churches, public safety, nonprofits and other service organizations In addition to monthly meetings, we have six different subcommittees each tasked with a specific community recovery goal. Since our first meeting in October, some major accomplishments include
Strengthening lines of communication between the school district, tribes and the city. The Tribes hosted a dinner honoring the community response agencies. We submitted a cooperative grant application under the Antiterrorism and Emergency Assistance Program to help recovery cost and provide additional support for counseling, art/music therapy Providing winter and spring break activities to affected students Developing and promoting a unity and healing art contest – currently underway – that allows the community to share their healing process through art. Hosting multiple trainings on a variety of topics including: o Crisis Intervention and Peer Support o SafeTalk – Suicide Prevention Training o School Based Support Group Facilitation Skills Trainings o International Trauma Center has assisted the group with multiple events including parent nights, Columbia Suicide Rating Scale, Trauma Informed Care and Suicide Postvention Seminars, Social Media Postvention, Posttraumatic Stress Management and Psychological First Aid, Advanced Clinical Seminar, and Rainbow Dance. o Emotional Wellness o Youth Mental Health First Aid o Complications in Bereavement
