Master Gardeners Home Horticulture Advice Committee CHARTER

MISSION/PURPOSE The Master Gardeners Home Horticulture Advice Committee (HHA), offers home visits to New Castle County to assist homeowners: to educate and encourage them to improve their landscapes; incorporate native plants; identify and manage plants; create wildlife habitats; establish and maintain vegetable gardens; identify and avoid invasive species; and use ecologically sustainable practices. MEMBERSHIP Eligibility Any Master Gardener (MG) in good standing. See MG By-laws Any MG Intern Ex Officio and invited members Cooperative Extension (CE) Horticultural Agent Invited MG Specialists MG Observers Enrollment - Rolling Term - Unlimited AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversight of Implementation Shared by the HHA Chair/Co-Chairs, visit team leaders, and the CE Horticultural Agent. See “New Castle County Master Gardeners @ Home Horticulture Visit Guidelines for Administration, Site Visits and Reporting” Operational Guidelines See “New Castle County Master Gardeners @ Home Horticulture Visit Guidelines for Administration, Site Visits and Reporting” Budget Prepared and managed annually by the HHA Chair/Co-Chairs Reported to HHA members Reported to the MG Treasurer Approved by the MG Steering Committee Structure Chair/Co-Chairs Appointment/election – according to MG By-laws Term – Two years MG Steering Committee Representation - At least one and no more than two HHA Chair/Co-chairs must be a MG Steering Committee (SC) member and attend SC meetings. Extension Office personnel provide staff support to HHA as resources permit. Staff support is at the direction of the CE Horticultural Agent.
