Texas Baptists are invested in ministry happening now, but also in the ministry of the future through investment in theological education. Students who feel called to ministry can apply for scholarships from Texas Baptists to assist in their schooling and training on the undergraduate and graduate levels. Masyn Evans, a senior at Hardin-Simmons University, is a recipient of one of these scholarships. She was called at the age of 16 to work in social justice.

Dr. Meredith Stone, director of ministry and guidance at HSU, said, “I am so grateful that people across the state care enough about the future of our churches that they will invest in the lives of young ministers in training.” Texas Baptists ministerial scholarships are funded by the Cooperative Program, which our church supports through our giving. Let’s pray for young adults called to ministry and for the Lord to provide for their education.

Masyn comes from a family in ministry and was not sure she would be able to afford a college education. She said this scholarship provided the support she needed to earn her degree.
