Max Hurn is a creative, young individual who has been practicing within photography for over 3 years. Currently doing his BA Honours at the University for the creative arts to further his career in photography, and has huge enthusiasm towards creating brilliant pieces of work, exhibitions, books and much more. In Max’s short period of practicing in photography he has learnt a wealth of experience and has acted on his own initiative when creating photographs and in the working in the field of photography. Always hard working, Max enjoys 100% customer satisfaction and is looking to further himself within photography to take his work to a whole new level, and start to break into one of the worlds most competitive industries.
Experience. January 2013 - Wedding photographer. On location photography at Carisbrooke Castle. - Press portraits for actor Jack Brett Anderson, working on a tight deadline of just 24 hours as he required them for his visit to L.A. December 2012 - Self-directed fashion shoot created in just 2 days, doing an outdoor shoot with one assistant and model Amy Saltmeris. - Created a student lead exhibition named EIGHTSPEED, where people had to cycle in order to power a projector to see the images. Inspired by the Olympics, and the ongoing ‘Go Green’ campaign. The show was displayed at Farnham Vineyard, and Farnham Maltings as a collective named ‘Breaking Through’. October 2012 - Self-directed fashion shoot with Jack Brett Anderson, which was later used in a Future First advertisement. - Self-directed fashion shoot with an up and coming model from ELITE London. Name of model available on request. - Covered a very traditional wedding at St. Helens Church. September 2012 - Self-directed fashion shoot with Adam Houghton who recently was also photographed by Jason Mark Harris. - Self-directed fashion shoot with Ruth Bullard, a rose jacket was created for the shoot with 152 fake roses, handmade by Max Hurn
July 2012 - Episode of Show me the Monet aired featuring Max’s work, which didn’t get past the judges, but Max still sold the print on after the show was aired. - Self-directed fashion shoot with Tori Death, this was working on the younger end of the spectrum with Tori only being 16 at the time of the photoshoot, direction was essential. June 2012 Covered a Bridal Fair event organised by Dornelle, hosted by the Royal Hotel in Ventnor, the images were later used in Dornelles advertisements. Worked alongside Chris Cowley, a well known Isle of Wight wedding photographer. April 2012 Shot images for Solent Air, a business offering personal flights for the upper class market, this included flying around the Isle of Wight to take photographs to later be used in their advertisement poster which Max created, as well as business cards and letter heads. January 2012 - May 2012 Created several self-directed fashion shoots for a project called ‘before and after.’ Exploring the use of photo manipulation in fashion images, and how individuals have begun to destroy their identity in the process. One of the shoots was later featured in an advertisement series by L.A. Glamour Hair, which was featured in Island Life magazine, the County press, and also used as the design for their flyers. Sandown Bay Academy/Sixth Form. - 7 GCSE’s A-C including English, Maths and Science - 2 A-levels - Theatre Studies, Photography. - 2 AS-levels - English Language, Media Studies .
Key skills.
University for the Creative Arts. - Currently in 2nd year of BA Hons Photography.
- Highly computer literate with both PC and Mac. - An advanced user of Adobe Lightroom 4.0 and previous. - An advanced user of Photoshop CS6 and previous. - Good skills on Indesign CS5.5 and previous. - Heavy user of Prolite kits, very good understanding on how to use equipment. - Accustomed to the use of studio, very good knowledge on use of equipment + health and safety. - Trained in using both digital and film. - Teaching students the basic of Photoshop. - Good skills in using Microsoft Office. - Good knowledge on using both Canon and Nikon cameras. -Very good communication skills/organisation of people.
Interests. Fashion - The production of fashion shoots and the fashion industry is a great interest of Max’s, he believes working on a low budget is always a brilliant challenge to set yourself. Photography and Design - Both come hand in hand, and with the emerging digital market there is more exciting approaches to displaying photography and allowing more adventurous design.
