In my last article I talked about how the resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything. Our very identity changes when we choose to love and follow Him. That’s the focus of the series we started in April that continues through this month. It’s a really important truth- that the Gospel changes us. God loves us, chooses us, includes us, enables and re-makes us more and more into His image. This is huge for many of us who walk around in some degree of defeat, discouragement, and apathy. What would change in your life, if you decided to live just one day believing that you have been chosen and adopted by Almighty God? That you are blessed? That you are a part of His family by His choice? I imagine that if I meditated on these ideas more often, it would push back a lot of the discouragement, negative attitudes, and lack of motivation I and many others encounter at times. So take some time reminding yourself, this month, of who you are in Christ, because of Christ. It will do us some real good.

It has been almost 2 months since I have joined the Brea Baptist Family and I am so excited to be a part of it! We have spent Wednesday Nights going through the book of James and understanding what it means to live a life committed to Christ! Sundays we are going through the Sermon on the Mount to better understand how things work in the Kingdom of God!
It has been great to spend these last few months getting to know each of the students. My goal is to be able to work on loving one another as brothers and sisters in our group, and build up that support system that God has provided. I encourage you to get to know the students, stop them and say hi and chit-chat with them a bit...trust me they are really sweet!
Serving the World I am looking at ways that the students can begin to serve more actively in the body at BBC. I think this will be a good way to connect the youth with the rest of the congregation, and I know that this will instill the practice of service that will overflow into their lives outside of church. Summer Camp is coming! If you would like to help sponsor a student to go, we would greatly appreciate your support!
May holds exciting learning experiences for the children as a part of our new curriculum, Elevate Kids! Children’s Church is learning how to show love to God through obedience and seeing what that looks like and what that means. Sunday School is learning all about worshiping God in different ways; praise and worship is not just about singing to our Lord, but encompasses so much more! Praise the Lord! Mason Ennis in 5th grade accepted Christ as his personal Savior this month!
In obeying God’s command to love others, the children are loving on Brea’s Chief of Police, Jack Conklin, through prayer and letters. They will be praying for Chief Conklin every week for 6 months and will be sending letters of encouragement to him monthly. This month the children will also continue to pray for their friends, and even those who they don’t normally play with. We pray for those we love, our friends, and even our foes, who we are called to love, as well.
Impact kids is proud to impact their families at home through their service. This month the children will come up with ideas with their teachers on how they can serve their family. The creativity will flow as they realize that they are not too small to be involved in serving one another. Service can begin at home and reach out wider and wider to the church family, the community, and the world at large! Being obedient through our service is one way we can love and worship our Lord!
We thank you for your continued support to our outreach of the Gospel to the unchurched children in Orange County. We ask that you pray with us as God leads us. We are having some challenges with the homeless invading our work space and living in our Noah's Ark boat. We are looking for a safe office space to continue our mission and a safe place to store the Ark. We are working with two churches to start a Good News Club in their Neighborhoods. We are in needed of new committee members, volunteers and someone to write our newsletters and manage our website. Upcoming events: Cinco de Mayo Fair outreach the first week in May, Christian Youth in Action training teens to be summer missionaries at Hope University in Fullerton in June. We are also working on a fun event for all the Good News Club Kids in June. You will receive more details in the upcoming newsletter. We praise God for your support.
Dan & Debbie Watson are thanking God for reaching women through their Ladies’ home bible study. A few weeks ago, a lady they call Miss C spoke up during their study of Ephesians 1-2, and said she wanted to have the Lord Jesus Christ at the center of her life and in control. Also, a young mother at the same study declared that she wanted to offer her life to God to do with whatever He wants, and that she wanted her children to serve God also. The Watsons are also thankful that Debbi is officially a resident of British Colombia, and now is eligible to apply for a medical card. This will be a big help as she seeks help with her auto-immune condition. Please pray for many of their members who are travelling in China right now, and for a greater desire/participation in their local outreach activities. They also ask for prayer for the many visitors they have in their services to decide to follow Jesus. Finally, please pray for computer issues they are having that makes communication difficult.
