Rod Perkins for Mayor of Kindersley “I am fully prepared to put forward a focused effort to benefit all the citizens of Kindersley for the next four years.”
LEADERSHIP. • I spent many years volunteering as a member of the Professional Conduct & Discipline committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan. The institute honoured me with an FCA designation in 2001. • Spent the better part of 20 years on the Kindersley Klippers executive, serving as President from 2009-2014 • Served on the executive of the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce for four years with one as President. • Was a board member of the World Junior A Challenge that was held in December 2014.
Vision. • We must ensure that taxes and utility bills do not increase. Our rates now are higher than most like-sized communities. This may well lead to some necessary but difficult descisions on cost-cutting. • We as a town must develop an atmosphere that really indicates we are “Open for Business.” Too much burecratic red-tape and delaying of descisions has impeded progress in the past. • A pool should be build immediately. It is a disgrace that a Town of this size does not have one. I do not feel that we can afford to wait, and if all the Town finances will permit is an outdoor pool, then that is what should be built. Waiting for fundraising or government grants is not an option. • We must work closely with local Rural Municipalities and the Provincial government in order to best serve residents of the Town and surrounding area.
