Mechanical Engineering Co-op for a High-Growth Robotics Startup About Us PFF was founded in 2015 by the Piaggio Group, the manufacturers of Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi, to rethink how to better move people and goods in urban settings. The company’s mission is to help people move better, further, faster, and more enjoyably. We build robots and lightweight transportation solutions that travel behind and beside people on the move. We launched our first product, Gita™, in February 2017. Gita is a cargo carrying robot that can follow a human operator or move autonomously by itself in a mapped environment (think about it like a personal pack mule). Gita can carry up to 40 pounds and move at up to 22 mph, all with a zero turning radius. We’ve been featured in the WSJ, Techcrunch, Wired, CNN, and over 200 other news outlets and Forrester research said we will “change the way people work.” Join our 30-person team in Boston as we reinvent the future of transportation.

About the Role We’re looking for a mechanical engineering intern to assist us in the design and development of autonomous ground robots. You will take ownership of components and subsystems, tooling, and processes used in the products PFF is creating. You’ll have the opportunity to create, fabricate and test prototype and production hardware and systems. You’ll have the support and mentorship of an experienced team of designers and engineers, but are expected to work independently. This co-op is only open to students on their 2nd and 3rd co-ops.

Requirements • Mechanical Engineering Design: • Creation and/or modification of CAD models and mechanical drawings and documentation, of a quality that can be used for production at external vendors; the development of bills of materials; and preparation and presentation of content to customers. • Fabrication, Integration and Testing: • Final assembly and integration of the components, and validation testing to ensure the components meet the requirements and specifications.
