Transfer Credits • Your transcripts have been reviewed. • Transfer credits that have been allowed are noted on your Academic Plans, which you will receive prior to the registration period. • Please see one of us during the registration period if you have questions regarding your transfer credits.
Transfer Credits
Liberal Studies (LBST) courses
Arts and Society (LBST 110X…choose one) Western Tradition (LBST 2101) Global Understanding (LBST 2102) Ethical Issues (LBST 221X…choose one)
Admissions and the University College award general education transfer credit. You will need to contact them if you have questions about those courses. http://ucol.uncc.edu/
Transfer Credits
PHYS 1101 Lab (non-calculus based) is accepted as equivalent to calculus-based PHYS 2101L Lab only (PHYS 1101 ≠ 2101).
PHYS 1102 Lab (non-calculus based) is accepted as equivalent to calculus-based PHYS 2102L Lab only (PHYS 1102 ≠ 2102).
Transfer Credits Science Elective Choices Choices appear on the back of curriculum sheets: BIOL 1110 CHEM 1252 GEOL 1200 PHYS 1130
Biology Chemistry II Geology Astronomy
Or a 3000-level or higher Chemistry, Biology, and Physics NOTE: The laboratory is not required for the Science Elective
Transfer Credits AP Credit In order to earn transfer credit for AP courses, students must have AP credits and scores sent to UNCCharlotte from the AP College Board. See https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/ for more information.
Schedule Details ENGR 1202 Introduction to Engineering II •
•
Is discipline specific…different sections are for Mechanical (M), Civil (C), Electrical Engineering (E), or Systems Engineering (S). Register for one of the “M” sections, e.g. ENGR 1202 M02 or ENGR 1202 M03.
ENGR 1201 and 1202 ENGR 1201 is nominally a prerequisite to ENGR 1202. However, we will change this requirement to a co-requisite if these are the only two freshman courses remaining for a student… with the understanding that students must Not drop ENGR 1201 (and keep ENGR 1202).
Schedule Details Allow enough time between classes to get from the main campus to Duke… 15 minutes are not enough time!!! There are shuttles, but relying on them for a cross-campus commute in 15 minutes is not feasible. Parking lots are often full during peak usage, so relying on driving across campus is not feasible.

Academic Agreement Please find the Academic Agreement on the green page and follow along as we continue with the presentation by covering the academic policies.
Progression Requirements Students must maintain a minimum Overall GPA of 2.000 Students must maintain a minimum Major GPA of 2.000 (for ENGR, ECGR, and MEGR courses)
Students are allowed two attempts to successfully complete courses. Students must make appropriate progress towards a BSME.
Rules of Dismissal Students will placed on probation/warning: - after the first semester of GPA < 2.0, or - after an unsuccessful course attempt - after one semester of inappropriate progress (e.g. not completing any required courses)
Students will be dismissed: - after the second semester of GPA < 2.0, or - after the second unsuccessful course attempt, or - after the second semester of inappropriate progress
Grade replacements Students may replace up to two grades in courses with grades in repeated attempts.
Grade replacements must be requested via an online form before the end of the Add period of the repeated attempt. See the university site on grade replacements for more information: http://registrar.uncc.edu/students/gradereplacement-policy
UNC Charlotte E-Mail Students are required to regularly check their UNC Charlotte email accounts. This is our formal means of communicating with you. Use it often!!!!
Advising •
Advising is mandatory for all mechanical engineering students
•
Students will be assigned to an Academic Advisor early in their first semester.
•
Students should consider Ms. Nance, Ms. Beauregard and Dr. Lawton as advisors until a permanent one is assigned.
Advising •
Students are responsible for choosing the proper courses to take within the guidelines of progression and prerequisite rules and knowing and following university rules.
•
Students are responsible for notifying advisors of any changes in circumstances that may require adjustments to academic plans.
•
Advisors can provide assistance and guidance.
CAUTION!!! •
The BSME curriculum is demanding: good time management skills are critical! • Transfer students often find that academics are more demanding here than at their previous college/university. • Jobs…working 20 or more hours per week is too much while pursuing the BSME. •
Seek help immediately if you have trouble in your courses…don’t wait until it’s too late!
CAUTION!!!
