MEDIA RELEASE KI RESIDENT SEASONAL FARE DEAL As well as free ferry passenger travel for Kangaroo Island drivers taking their car on the ferry, SeaLink is offering KI residents discounted passenger fares this winter. Valid for travel from 15 June to 15 September, the special deal is open to all SA residents and is part of a $170,000 marketing campaign that also encourages mainland South Australian residents to visit Kangaroo Island. During the campaign period, each way KI resident fares will be Adult $24.50 - a saving of $6.50, Children and Concession $12.50 – a saving of $3.50 and Student fares $20 – a saving of $7. These special fares are available whether travelling with or without a vehicle with off peak and standard vehicle fares applicable. In addition, SeaLink will still offer their Driver Goes Free fare (valued at $62 return) for any KI Resident driver taking a car as well as special accommodation deals – ranging from three nights for the price of two to free breakfasts – for islanders seeking accommodation in Adelaide or other parts of regional South Australia. SeaLink’s SA resident campaign, backed by television, radio, magazine, newspaper and online advertising, is aimed at people who may have never visited the island before or visited many years ago and have always wanted to go back. For those heading to Kangaroo Island there are plenty of accommodation deals and a discount voucher booklet for tours, cellar doors, restaurants, cafes and attractions for anyone booking their accommodation for Kangaroo Island through SeaLink’s accommodation booking service. “It’s amazing to think that KI attracts thousands of visitors from across Australia and the globe every year, yet there are plenty of South Australians who have never made the 45-minute ferry crossing to discover what’s in their own backyard,” SeaLink Marketing Manager Julie-Anne Briscoe says. “This is a real incentive for South Australians to visit the island and will increase visitation over what is a traditionally a quieter time on Kangaroo Island, boosting local businesses and stimulating the island’s economy.
