Meet our People From John and Penny Cabell What a great pleasure it was to be asked to write a piece for the Eagle News about Norman Anderson. Norman is one of those people who work behind the scenes to make a wonderful contribution to the parish life at St. John’s and to Waynesboro. He is the consummate volunteer who freely gives of his time to take people on medical visits to Charlottesville and Augusta Health. Often he will be seen picking up at hikers at the Post Office to ferry them to the top of Afton Mountain and return with new weary hikers. He is among our most loyal members in supporting our ministry with Western State, Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross. He never says No! We treasure our friendship with Norman and look forward to being with him at 8 O’clock on Sunday mornings.

Council is January 28 -30 Mark it on your calendars! If you consider not going for any reason other than “Prior Commitment” let Sam talk you out of missing the biggest Diocesan youth event next year!
Christmas Giving: From the Youth Group At the time of submission we needed to raise $2597.50 for Nets For Life. If one Net prevents the death of 3 people, then we have 649 more people to save. There is simply no more meaningful way to honor the birth and life of Jesus Christ than to labor for the sake of others. Trade $12 of your disposable income to participate in the outreach of our youth and our diocese. And if you’ve already given… give again. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity. God Bless you, and Merry Christmas.

Sheets and Towels Shower From Dot Main The Valley Mission, on West Beverly Street in Staunton has been in operation since 1971, as a non-profit, temporary shelter for the homeless. With 105 beds (often filled) for men, women, and families, the Mission depends on the community for supplies. At this time there is a real need for sheets, blankets and towels. Please look in your closet for any items you can spare and bring them to church. Items need not be new, only clean and serviceable.
