JANUARY 2015 Tuesday 27th – First day of term!
Dear Parents and Friends, Welcome to the last week of the 2014 school year. And what a fantastic year it has been once again. I feel truly blessed to be part of the wonderful school that is St Kieran’s! A big thank you to everyone; staff, students, parents, families and parish – all who have been involved and helped out throughout the year. All that you do is very much appreciated and we would not be able to achieve what we have this year without you all! A fond farewell to our Year Six and Seven classes as they venture off to Secondary School and to all families, staff and friends who are leaving us this year - we will miss you all! We wish you every happiness as you continue on life’s journey! Merry Christmas everyone! Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas Season! And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow, Stood puzzling and puzzling: 'How could it be so?' It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags! And he puzzled three hours, 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more! Dr. Seuss

A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences. An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment. A loss of interest in judging other people. A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others. A loss of interest in conflict. A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious symptom.) Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation. Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature. Frequent attacks of smiling. An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen. An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it. Please send this warning out to all your friends. This virus can and has affected many systems. Some systems have been completely cleaned out because of it. Christmas blessings to all our St Kieran’s school community and families. May you be watched over during the holiday season and I very much look forward to seeing you all happy and rested in 2015. Did you know that as school comes to an end this year, that there is currently over $1000 worth of library books and home readers still outstanding? Did you know that this has an impact on the ability to update and improve school resources? Please return your books … GRADUATES Congratulations to Casita Fortune and Jamie Pott, who both graduated last week with a Diploma of Education. HELP NEEDED The next race day meeting at Mt Isa Race Club is on THIS Saturday, 6th December. St Kieran’s is again afforded the opportunity to raise substantial funds for the school and its students. In order to do this, however, we rely on volunteers to help run the bar during numerous shifts throughout the day. Anyone who is willing and able to volunteer their time from 10am is asked to get in contact with the school as soon as possible. Thankyou.
TUCKSHOP NEWS There is no meal deal this Friday, as students finish at 12 midday for their last day of school! The tuckshop is open tomorrow and Friday, but no orders will be taken – available food will be sold over the counter. Happy holidays.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
FAREWELL YEARS 6 and 7 Years 6 and 7 are about to embark upon the next chapter in their educational life … the move to high school. To send them and departing staff on their way, and to celebrate the efforts of all students in all years, St Kieran’s held a special End of Year Mass last Wednesday, officiated by none other than Fr Mick. A beautiful occasion, and Miss Wagstaff was impressed with all the children and their behaviour. The traditional farewell dinner for students and their families in years 6 and 7 was also held on Monday night, a great night by all accounts.
