Life Reflections On August 24, 1932, a bouncing baby girl was born to Willie and Lillian Bradford in St Louis, Missouri. Jennie, the sixth child of nine children born to this union, was proudly named after her paternal grandmother. Both parents; six siblings; one granddaughter, Stacey; and one stepson, Marvin preceded her in death. Jennie began her relationship with Christ at an early age and was baptized at Thessalonian Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loyal and faithful member of Thessalonian for sixty-five years, where she served in various capacities. She remained in good standing with the church even when her health did not allow her to attend. Jennie received her elementary and secondary education through the St. Louis City Public Schools system. In 1955, she met her future husband, William Watters. After a lengthy courtship, they were united in Holy Matrimony by Reverend Elias Booze at Thessalonian on November 20, 1961. Jennie held several jobs during her life but she enjoyed working for her daughter, Jackie, at B & P Construction, Inc. for over 25 years, where she retired at the age of 81. She was so dependable, never calling off from work and she was never late for work. Jennie loved and lived life unselfishly. People she met had a natural attraction to her and you could always count on her to speak her mind. She loved to laugh, she enjoyed gatherings with family and friends and loved traveling with her daughter, Patricia. She had a special bond with her grandchildren. As a sports fan, she enjoyed talking about wrestling with her grandson, Adrian. She was always very supportive of and encouraging to them. She enjoyed the shopping trips with Stacey and giving Deidra cooking advice, then telling her, “I’m going to make a cook out of you.” With Kevin, her first born grandchild, she always made sure she cooked his favorite foods, especially her peach cobbler that he loved so much. The Lord called Jennie to her eternal rest and peace on Saturday, September 2, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, William Watters; two daughters, Patricia Burrus and Jackie R. Bradford (Tony); one stepson, Michael Byrd (Shea); one stepdaughter, Patsy Byrd; one sister, Bertha M. Yokley; one brother, Maurice Bradford, Sr.; four grandchildren, Kevin Buford, Adrian Johnson, Deidra Scott and Edward Payne; three great-grandchildren, Kiara Pierce, Jalen Payne and Miciah Conner; two step-grandchildren, Marvin Byrd and Erika Byrd; goddaughter, Freda Spann; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Author Unknown God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be. So, He wrapped His arms around you, And whispered, “Come unto me.” You didn’t deserve what you went through, And so, He gave you rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. So, when I saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain. I could not wish you to come back, To suffer that all again.

Our lives go on without you But nothing is the same, We have to hide our heartaches When someone speaks your name.

Sad are the hearts that love you Silent the tears that fall, Living our lives without you Is the hardest part of all.
