ROLE
Ministry General Description and Purpose (What it is) The St Simon Peter Episcopal Church Men’s Group is a prayerful fellowship with missions to:
Create or support outreach programs Provide financial, physical or time support for the internal needs of the church
Meeting Logistics When: Date-Third Saturday Morning of Each Month Time- 8:00 am CST** Place- Parish Hall **Chefs and Ministry Leader arrive at approximately 7:00 am CST
Roles and Associated Duties Involved 1. Ministry Leader. Group Email management-A group email address file is maintained on the Ministry Leader’s personal computer, using the Microsoft Outlook application, and coordination with the parish mailing list may be needed to insure that email address changes by members are captured and input to the group list.
Meeting Reminder Distribution- and is used to send meeting reminders to the members prior to the meeting date. Usually, the reminder email is sent on the Wednesday or Thursday prior to the Saturday meeting date. Prayer/Spiritual Reading-The Men’s Group Leader provides and leads the opening prayer prior to the breakfast meal, a spiritual reading from the publication ‘Forward, Day by Day” , with an issue month commensurate with the month of the group meeting, and a prayer following the reading. 2. Treasurer. Checking account balance: Is prepared to provide the balance information of funds on deposit to attendees (as needed). Funds Collection- places basket on dining table used for contributions, collects the funds and, later, deposits them into the Men’s Group bank account. Account management: The treasurer maintains possession of the Men’s Group checkbook and deposit slips. 3. Chefs. Food Acquisition-The chefs insure there is enough food prepared for the attendees. Food is acquired prior to the meeting and stored in the Parish kitchen. Typically, a standard American breakfast is served, which consists of a breakfast meat (bacon or sausage), eggs, bread, pancakes, or some combination these. Condiments are also acquired consisting of jams, jellies, salt, pepper, syrup etc. Food Preparation-Chefs utilized an oven, stove and hotplate to prepare the meal. On occasion, special dishes are prepared voluntarily by a member/members for family members of the group. Kitchen and Dining Area Cleanup-Chefs, and preferably all attendees, will pitch in and help return the kitchen to a clean status. Resources Needed/Utilized (Internal and External, people, facilities, materials, etc.)
The Men’s Group uses the Parish kitchen, utensils and appliances to prepare breakfast for member/attendees and invited guests/guest speakers. Food and beverage are purchased prior to the meeting using Men’s Group collected funds. Typically, the use of about 3 to 4 tables and 20+ chairs are needed to accommodate the attendees. Cleaning supplies on hand are used to return the kitchen and parish hall to a clean status. Copy of publication “Forward Day by Day” which is available in church office.
Budget/Finance Required The Men’s Group attendees typically contribute money during the breakfast. The money is then deposited into the Men’s Group bank account. There is no budgeting outside of assessment of funds balance before funds provision for internal or external need funds provision.
