What Judging Reveals  Judging says more about us than the other person;  We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done;  We judge others by their behavior, but we judge ourselves by our intentions.

Making a Deposit v.38

Understanding God’s Measure 1) We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2.12 2) God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5.5

Understanding God’s Measure 3) His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1.3 4) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. John 15.7

Accumulating Interest vv.43-45

Operating from a Deficit  We make judgments without compassion  We always expect the same behavior from the offender  We have taken no responsibility for our own behavior  We multiply our own hurts and that of others  We can be trapped into a cycle of blind selfrighteousness

Jesus’ Example  I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. John 8.28  For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. John 12.49  This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 1 Corinthians 2.13
