Ensure you have completed all of your speaking booklet fully Download a new one from the school website if you have lost yours. For Foundation level, check that your answers include past, present and future events and that you have included opinions.
Check you know key vocabulary for each topic.
Make sure you can identify different tenses.
Look out for Key words—you don’t always need to understand every word.
For Higher level, your answers should more detailed. Use a variety of tenses and vocabulary. The opinions should be justified and you should try to refer to other people’s opinions.
Look out for cognates (words that are the same or similar to English words) BUT...
Have a look at the school website for examples of answers to the questions
Don’t get caught out by ‘false friends’ or words that don’t mean what you think they do.
Be able to recognise Time expressions.
Be able to recognise lots of different opinion words and phrases.
Learn all the basics (see the Listening section).
Use the websites to help you practise your reading skills.
Look back in your textbook and have a go at some of the exercises again.
