Flatlock Placemat, Napkin and Napkin Ring Wrong sides together flatlock technique Supplies Needed Note: Yardage is to complete 2 placemats and 2 Napkins and rings. We will complete one set in class. If you wish to do more at home, do the math accordingly. There are 2 options for the placemat, One is serge and turn as shown in the store sample. Another is to use a binding. Fabric for the placemats  Fabric A 1/8 yard (center)  Fabric B 1/8 yard (center)  Fabric C 3/8 yard (center of one (center and binding of the other)  Fabric D 3/8 yard (center and borders)  Fabric E 1/2 yard (backing)  1/2 yard thin batting  For the Napkins  Fabric A 5/8 yard  Fabric B 5/8 yard  For the rings 2 1/2 inch by 16 inches Thread  3 spools regular serger thread   1 spool heavy decorative thread for the placemat   1 spool matching wooly nylon or Maxi Lock Stretch for the napkin  Needles, Notions & Stabilizer  Needles 80 or 90   Steam-A-Seam (for the serge and turn option)   1/2 to 3/4 inch elastic cut 6 inches each  Standard Sewing Supplies (fabric scissors, paper scissors, pins, seam gauge, tape measure, etc.)   Temporary Spray Adhesive  Machine & Accessories  Serger in good working order with manual, basic feet and accessories   Denotes items available for purchase at Dublin Sewing Center. These items should always be purchased at Dublin Sewing Center to ensure that you have the correct product and to ensure that we can continue to teach these Classes at a low price. Please remember, though, that we only carry a few of each item at a time so it is best to purchase your items prior to the class (in person or by phone). Pre-Class Preparation: Cutting: For the napkins and rings:  Spray the wrong side of 1 5/8 piece of fabric and place it wrong side together with the other 5/8 fabric. You will now treat as one piece. Cut 2-20 inch squares. Use the remainder to cut 2-2 ½ X 16 inch for the rings For the placemats:  See the layout on the next page
