Midlakes Babe Ruth Baseball, a chartered entity of Babe Ruth League/Cal Ripken Baseball, will not allow any volunteer to interact with our players until this background check is completed. The applicant is entitled to receive a copy of any report after a written request has been filed with Midlakes Babe Ruth Baseball. **Please note that this is not a credit report**

Midlakes Babe Ruth Coaching Code of Conduct The following is the policy of Midlakes Babe Ruth (MBR)
MBR is committed to provide a safe environment for all its players.
MBR will make every reasonable effort to ensure that every person involved in managing/coaching/volunteering with one of our teams will provide a safe environment for all players.
MBR will make every reasonable effort to exclude any adult with a legally documented history of child abuse/molestation or any record that would bring unnecessary risk to the health and safety of the participants of this organization. Therefore, every person applying for a position as a manager/coach must complete a background check form.
Midlakes Babe Ruth (MBR) wants to ensure that it provides its players, coaches and parents with a positive, safe and rewarding baseball experience. By example of behavior, the manager and coach of each MBR team has a great impact on his or her team, the players' parents and other team supporters. The manager and coach have an affirmative obligation to create a constructive, enjoyable and non-hostile environment in which the game is played. As MBR strives towards the most positive experience possible, we are committed to the following standards for our managers and coaches. We ask each manager and coach of every MBR team to read these standards and sign below to indicate his/her willingness to abide by them.
I will make the safety and welfare of each participant my number one priority. I will abide by a doctor's decision in all matters of a player's health, injuries and ability to play. I will not allow a player to enter or re-enter a game if there is any doubt as to the seriousness of the player's injury or health. I will treat everyone with respect regardless of race, sex, creed and ability. I will never use any physical means against spectators, players, officials, or other coaches. I will know the rules applicable to my league and will abide by those rules at all times and have a copy with me at all games. I will ensure that my team plays with the highest level of sportsmanship at all times and will not promote any actions that result in embarrassing the opposing team. I will not unduly criticize players in front of spectators or other players. Any criticism I provide will be constructive in nature. I will not criticize, aggravate or incite the opposing team, coaches or fans, by word of mouth or gesture. I will refrain from using profanity. I will not put winning before instruction. I will not use my position as a coach in MBR for any personal gains. I will accept the decision of game officials as being fair and called to the best ability of the official.
I will raise any disputes I have regarding rules and their application or judgment calls in a dignified, brief and non-aggressive manner. To the extent satisfaction is not attained, I will simply play the game under protest. I will make notice of any protests to the MBR Board of Directors. I will not consume alcoholic beverages and/or appear under the influence of same at any time. I will not utilize, or allow players to utilize, tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco and vaporizing devices during games or practices. I will be responsible for the conduct of the players, coaches, parents and other supporters of my team members during games and practices and take reasonable action to secure their comportment with the principles of this Code of Ethics. As such, I will ultimately be held responsible for their actions. I will always do my best to make the experience fun for all participants. I will accept any and all judgements by my division commissioner and/or the Board of Directors as final. I will NOT portray this program, fellow coaches, the Board of Directors, or any other person affiliated with this program in a negative light, no matter my personal opinion. All complaints are to be discussed with my division commissioner or a Board Member.
Violations of any item of this Code of Conduct will be considered a serious matter by the Board of Directors and could subject the violator to appropriate action, including, but not limited to, separation from the league, suspensions and removal of coaching privileges. When a parent/coach/spectator feels that there has been a violation of the Code of Conduct, the incident will be filed with MBR. Reports of, or disputes relating to, possible violations will be brought to the attention of John Shipley, President, Midlakes Babe Ruth, for investigation and resolution by the Board of Directors. All decisions by the President, and/or the Board of Directors will be considered final
