MILLARD WEST HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TENNIS – Parent Information Coaching Philosophy It is our hope by participating in the boy’s tennis program your son will improve as a tennis player, develop his character and work ethic, and build relationships that support him during and beyond his experience as a Wildcat. We will encourage each boy to set individual goals. Those goals should begin with their effort, attitude, and contribution to the team throughout the season. Their commitment should be to practice for improvement towards their best athletic performance. Each player’s positive attitude will contribute to a positive team atmosphere. All team members should support one another during practice and during match play setting the stage for many winwin situations both on and off the court. Our goal is for each boy is to have their best experience as an athlete representing Millard West High School.
Expectation of the Athlete Our expectation of your son is to honor his commitment to the tennis program by: ➢ Reading the Parent –Student Handbook and understanding that all athletic programs will follow the guidelines in that document ➢ Attending all scheduled practices 3:30 – 5:30 PM, arriving on time and giving their best effort. An accumulation of two unexcused absences will place the player ineligible to compete for the next competitive match be it a scheduled match, the metro or state tournaments or until the coaches determine the reinstatement of their playable status. ➢ Communicating conflicts in the practice/match schedule by email or calling the coach’s cell phone at least 1 week in advance of the scheduled event or before practice begins in the case of illness and absence from the school day. ➢ Showing respect for their teammates, coaches, and opponents ➢ Maintaining Academic Eligibility
Expectations of the Parents We ask you be supportive of the program philosophy, team rules, and regulations and your son’s experience. During matches the following guidelines should be followed: ➢ Be respectful of the coach by not coaching ➢ Be respectful of your son’s opponent by not applauding their errors ➢ Be supportive of your son by applauding his efforts regardless of the outcome of his match Coach Koziol 4029056708 Coach Robertson 4026596421
