Minors Softball Division: 2017 Minors Game Rules
11” hard balls for games.
Game length – 6 full innings or 90 minutes. Be mindful of the clock and make sure each team gets their last ups.
Girls pitch every other inning – goal of 35 feet (9-10 All-Stars distance). Player starts the game then coach pitch 2nd inning.
If a girl walks 4 batters in an inning, the Coach must take over. Still have the player field her position on the mound, but finish pitching the inning.
Encourage all batters to be aggressively swinging at girl pitched pitches – the more kid pitched contact that’s made the better.
3 outs ends an inning or through the order. Try to match same number of batters for each team. So if 1 team has 6 players and the other 9, then the 6 player team gets 9 at bats per inning if < 3 outs.
NO stolen bases once the ball crosses the plate.
NO dropped 3rd strike.
NO stealing home on passed ball, wild pitch, or throw back to pitcher. Basically no stealing home.
Umpires – will not be assigned. Coaches can ump, but encourage parent volunteers to jump in.
One extra base on an overthrow including home.
Ball hit to OF past fielders, batters gets 2B and runners on advance 2 bases.
No warm up swings while batter is in the box or anywhere else. Keep bats and players separated unless it’s their turn to hit.
No more than 9 Girls on the field at once. If needed, a game can be played with a minimum of 6 girls (no OFers) so a game does not have to be forfeited.
Girls should be in position on the field, do not play everyone in the infield for example. Teach them where the positions are and rotate the girls around defensively.
Try to make up rained out games – contact Softball VP for field availability.
Need 12 games for All Star consideration.
