Name: Steven Khup Er Date of Birth: August 12, 1956 Wife: Khuang Ki Children: Sui Sui, (Vung Vung’s wife), Margaret Cher, Nay Ome, and Julie Military Service: 1978-1995 Evangelist: 1996-April, 2015 May 2015–present – church planter for the Free Methodist Church of Myanmar. Place of Church Planting: Kyaing Tong City, Shan State, Myanmar Steven was ordained in 2013 in the Apostolic Church of Mayanmar. We are in the process of accepting his papers. Prior to becoming a church planter, Steven Khup Er, while even in the military, was enthusiastically sharing the Gospel. He retired from the military so he could do evangelistic outreach. He was an evangelist for more than ten years when we asked him to plant a church in Kyaing Tong, eastern Shan State. This is the first church plant in Shan State. This area is almost totally unevangelized. There is probably less than .05 Christians. This offers many challenges, but many opportunities.

Risks and Challenges—many landlords do not want to rent for Christian activities. The communities complain when they hear and see Christian activities. So often he must move – and then the people who they have been working with are unable to continue to attend the services because the new “church” home is too far away. The best answer is to be able to buy their own land. Prospects—He is busy continuing to build relationships from which opportunities will come to share the Gospel his daughter, Margaret, goes to three villages that are from 10 to 25 miles from Kyaing Tong, and teaches the children the Bible. They believe this will result in new church plants. Action plan steps—His priority is to make disciples. He believes and follows the II Timothy 2:2 model. He attended CCP (Community Church Planting ) training. He will follow the method closely. Visit the people, build friendships and share the gospel door to door. Have evangelistic meetings. At Christmas he will invite the community to the church service and serve a big Christmas dinner.
