Rate Computing Postal Scale

Model 315 Features The 315 rate computing postal scale has a big 5 kg capacity and is fully ‘Pricing in Proportion (PiP)’ compatible. This is a powerful scale with excellent features, set at an extremely competitive price - making it ideal for every application where mail is handled. With automatic triple-band resolution, the 315 ensures that even the lightest letter is weighed accurately and the exact postage required is displayed instantly - no need to refer to look-up tables or charts.

Simple to operate, the 315 has a clear keyboard with only six keys and yet is programmed to calculate the full range of UK 1st and 2nd class postal rates - along with recorded and next day special delivery services and parcels. For overseas mail, airmail letters for Europe and international surface mail rates are also included.

The hold key allows larger items to be weighed and the display frozen until the operator has read the postal charge. Although the novel letter stand built into the weigh platter means that most letters can be catered for directly. To assist the operator, the 315 postal scale will switch to the next band if the item being weighed is too heavy for the class of mail selected.

In addition, the operator can select whether the mail is being sent ‘metered’ or ‘stamped’ and of course the size - small letter, large letter or packet.

The 315 remains in the class of mail selected until the operator makes a different selection, or until the scale is switched off.

In readiness for ‘Pricing in Proportion’, the 315 features a size selection key to enable the operator to select the size of the item being weighed. When used in conjunction with the Salter Brecknell Pricing in Proportion ruler (available separately), it offers the complete package for the busy mailroom or the home user; or indeed everyone who is sending mail!

With automatic switch-off to conserve battery life, the 315 will indicate when the batteries need to be replaced, so that the scale should always be available whenever it is needed! Every 315 machine is supplied with a registration card, which should be completed and returned to ensure that in the event of postal rates changing, a new EPROM is sent out in advance, ready for the new rates coming into effect. This computerised database makes sure that all 315 users have the most up-to-date rate information at all times.
