Tell us more about yourself and your collection location. Our business, Tea 4 U, is located in a tea house called The White House in Oakhurst, NJ. The house is from the late 1800s and has been restored sustainably and we promote green living to our customers. We are the first location in Ocean Twp. to have a charging station for two electric cars, we are powered by 100% windmill energy, and we take pride in our no-waste policy. All food products are composted (we sell our Bokashi systems, too) and our tea guests are encouraged to bring materials to upcycle to TerraCycle. We have recycling areas at our entrance and in our kitchen and tea bar. Customers who frequently bring back materials to be 'TerraCycled' get incentives (free tea!). Why do you participate in the MOM Brands Cereal Bag Brigade and how do you involve participants at your collection location? Responsively Green Living is our motto and 'TerraCycling' is natural and fun for us. We encourage our customers to do the same and we have many regulars who collect at home in large bags and bring in when they come for tea. They are proud and happy when we announce that we have shipped another large box to TerraCycle. How do you collect so many cereal bags? Our business entrance has a setup of nice collection boxes for customers to use. Our regulars collect at home and bring us stuffed bags of their TerraCycle materials.

What tips do you have for other participants in the MOM Brands Cereal Bag Brigade? Set up nice boxes for collection and encourage customers to start collecting. If possible, give incentives for those who really participate. And share the progress. People like to be part of something great and green. It feels good to do something for the planet, when it is easy and worthwhile, and is completely free.

Tea 4 U at The White House in Oakhurst | Oakhurst, NJ Is there a specific tool or resource that you've created to help you collect and recycle cereal bags? We bought IKEA plastic containers with lids to use for our collected materials. They are easy to unload into our reused shipping boxes. We encourage customers in emails, Facebook and on our website to help us green the planet. Tell us a story about your most exciting, memorable, or inspiring moment in collecting for the MOM Brands Cereal Bag Brigade. Our proudest moment was when we reached $100 in points towards our charity, Three Cups of Tea – and our school in Pakistan. What is the best or most influential thing you've spent your TerraCycle points on? Our points will go towards our most important charity, Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson/Central Asia Institute. A few years ago Tea 4 U's owner initiated a service project in collaboration with the local community college's honor society and alumni association to build a school in Pakistan - primarily for girls. The school was completed in 2011. Being able to continue supporting education of girls in this part of the world is very rewarding, especially since this is done solely with 'garbage'. Is there a specific message that you would like to share with MOM Brands, the brand partner of the MOM Brands Cereal Bag Brigade? Thank you for helping us make the world a greener and better place - and for helping us eliminate garbage from our planet!
