FAQs:  Why Vanpool instead of commuting in my own car? If you live more than 20 miles from work, a vanpool can save you a tremendous amount of money, time and stress.  How much does it cost? Pricing varies based on the size of the van, how the van is equipped and the round-trip distance you travel each day. The average cost per passenger is $100-150 per month.  What does the price include? The monthly payment includes a late-model 7+ passenger vehicle, full-service maintenance, comprehensive insurance, taxes and a fuel card supplied by Enterprise.  What kind of vehicle do I get? Enterprise carries a ride variety of vehicles to accommodate virtually any size vanpool of up to 15 riders, including Ford, GMC, Chevy, Buick, Dodge, Chrysler, and several imports.  Do I have to lease or buy the vehicle? They will implement a pre-tax payroll deduction to cover the cost of the rental. Thusly, the group will not have to collect from each other.  Where do we board the van? The vanpool group determines a good morning meeting point close to all of the rider’s homes. Typically, park-n-rides, grocery store or church parking lots are good options.  Where does the van get parked at night? One of two places: Either the van is parked at the meeting point (most common), or one of the drivers parks it at their home overnight.  Who does the driving? A few members of the vanpool act as drivers. Most vanpools have 2 to 4 riders who are authorized as drivers.  Do you need a special driver’s license to drive the van? Not in California. A standard Class C license is all that is required.  What are the requirements to be one of the drivers? In California, the driver must have a reasonably clean driving record and be 25 years of age.
