Monster Eyes! Monster eyes create expression, the more expressive the eyes the better the monster!
How to Make Monster Eyes: Bug Eyes: These eyes rest on top of the monster’s face.
1. Make sure you have the monster body shape finished before starting. 2. Draw where you want to have your monster eyes to be placed. 3. If you want to have circle eyes, roll a sphere in your hand. Cut the eye in half, be careful when cutting as you can squish your eye.
You may also make other shapes to the eyes, they do not need to be circles!
4. Score and Slip the eyes to the monster body.

These eyes are started as sockets, much like our own. Our eyes rest in our skull, which is what these eye will do. (This method is best for Cyclopes)
Eyebrows OR Eyelids—choose one or the other
1. Make sure you have the monster body shape finished before starting. 2. Draw where you want to have your monster eyes to be placed. 3. Using your thumb or fingers to press gently into the clay. 4. Once the impression is deep enough you will now add the eyes.

Depending on how you pressed those eyes may not have to be cut in half. The eyes should not take up the entire space of the socket.
Score and Slip the eyes into the sockets.
You must have these for the monsters as the eyes are the “soul” to the monster. How to make Eye Lids: 1. Make a coil. 2. Flatten it with your fingers. 3. Take the fettling knife and cut the long side so it have a straight edge. 4. With the straight edge, place it over the eye. Depending on how you adjust the lid, you can make it happy, sad or angry. 5. Score and slip that onto the eye, blend the back of the lid to the body as it will look more like an eyebrow otherwise. How to make Eye Brows: 1. Start with a shape of clay. This can be a coil or a flat piece of clay. 2. Arrange this above the eyes. Depending on the placement of the eyebrows it will evoke more emotion. 3. Score and slip the eyebrows on.
