Double X 10” x 10” Cutting Directions for 1 Block From Background fabric cut: ¡ From Green fabric cut: - (5) 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” squares (A) - (1) 6” x 6” square. Subcut in half diagonally once - (2) 3-3/8” x 3-3/8” squares. Subcut in half to make a total of (2) HST (D) diagonally once to make a total of (4) Half Square ¡ From Red fabric cut: - (2) 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” squares (E) Triangles (HST) (B) - (2) 1-1/2” x 10-1/2” strips (F) ¡ From Blue fabric cut: - (2) 1-1/2” x 12-1/2” strips (G) - (3) 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” Squares (C) ¡
Piecing Instructions ¡
Mark a diagonal line on the backside of the (5) Background “A” squares as shown.
¡
Layer (1) Background “A” Square on top of (1) Red “E” square.
¡
Sew a 1/4” seam on both sides of the drawn line.
¡
Cut in half on the diagonal line. Press towards the Red triangle. Square up blocks to 3” x 3”
¡
Repeat the previous (3) steps to make a total of (4) Red (HST) units, (6) Blue “C” HST units.

Sew blocks into rows. Press seams open.
¡
Sew rows together to make (1) Block 1. Press seams open. Block should measure 5-1/2” x 5-1/2”
¡ Repeat previous (3) steps to make a total of (2) Unit 1.
¡
Layout (1) Green “D” HST, (2) Background “B” HST, and (1) Blue HST unit as shown.

Sew (1) Background “B” triangle to the left side of the Blue HST. Press towards the “B” triangle
¡
Sew (1) Background “B” triangle to the bottom of the Blue HST. Press towards the “B” triangle.
¡
Sew pieced triangle unit to the Green “D” triangle. Press towards the “D” triangle. Block should measure 5-1/2” x 5-1/2”

Repeat Previous (4) steps to make a total of (2) Unit 2

Sew rows together to make (1) Double X block. Press seams open. Block should measure 10-1/2” x 10-1/2”
Add Block Framing Strips ¡
Sew a Red “F” strip to the left and right sides of the block. Press towards the Red strip.

Sew a Red “G” strip to the top and bottom of the block. Press towards the Red Strip.
