Each square = 3” • Completed top will be 72” x 72” (based on a 1/4” seam allowance)
Red Fabric:
Cut 32, 3.5” squares*
White Fabric:
Cut 64, 3.5” squares* Cut 32, 6.5“ squares Cut 1, 24.5” square for center panel
Blue Fabric:
Cut 32, 3.5” squares* Cut 8, 12.5“ squares (for the applique star blocks)
* An alternative to cutting the 3.5” squares is to sew 3.5“ wide WOF (width of faric) strips of red & white and blue & white. Trim to 6.5” rectangles. Press towards the darker fabric, and make your 4-patch blocks.
Make 16, red & white HST blocks and 16 blue & white HST blocks. >
Sew the red/white 4-patch blocks to the completed HST blocks - Join 2 sets of these to form larger “A” blocks “B” blocks made from 2, 6.5” white squares, 1, 4-patch blue and white, and 1, blue/white HST

Eagle applique template
Please note that the image has already been reversed. Take to your local copy shop and enlarge image to approximately 20 - 22” . (I like to leave what I call “breathing room” or space - keeping the image a few inches from the sewn edge) Play around with the colors, make it all blue or vary the eagle. You can also choose to make just 3 stars or no stars at all. Have fun and happy quilting!
