Installing your external VC5090-2.4/5.0GHZ antenna kit with your computer

An external antenna should be used when placement of the computer in/on a vehicle prohibits or limits reception. For example, when the computer is installed on a forklift, or in a yard truck or crane. To install an external antenna temporarily: 1. Lift the antenna connector cap on top of the VC5090 vehicle computer. 2. Screw the cable connector onto the antenna connector. Connector type is Reverse Polarity SMA. 3. Torque to 5 ± 0.5 kgf/cm (4.3 ± 0.4 in-lbs). 4. Screw the antenna to the magnetic antenna base. 5. Mount the magnetic base with antenna installed on the top of the roll cage/roof of the vehicle as close to the center as possible to maximize reception. 6. Tap the Windows Icon, > Settings > Control Panel > VC5090 System Management icon. The System Management window displays.2 - 32 VC5090 Vehicle Computer Product Reference Guide 7. Tap the RF Settings tab. 8. Tap the External Antenna radio button & enable the Comm LED 9. Tap OK.
