Obituary Mrs. Jessie Belton Butler was born May 8, 1946 and was the seventh of eleven children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Minnie D. Belton of Camden, SC. She entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Agape Hospice in Columbia, SC. Jessie received her education in the Kershaw County Public Schools. Her employment career consisted of jobs in both Camden, SC and New York, NY where she resided for a number of years. Jessie was employed at Skyline Manufacturing (Tic Tac), Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Cosmo Fiore Dress, Lori Lynn Fashions and at one time, she worked as an insurance agent. Jessie loved the Lord and didn’t mine serving Him. She began her Christian journey at Zion Hill AME Zion Church where she served faithfully. She served as a delegate to the Annual Conference within the AME Zion Church for many years. She later served with her husband, Melvin at Rock Hill Baptist in Ridgeway, SC until her health began to decline. She always tried to put a smile on the face of others. She loved to have a good time and to say that she was the life of the party is an understatement. Jessie is survived by her Husband of thirty-seven years, Melvin Butler; two sons, Jeffery (Willie Mae) Belton of Camden, SC and Clifton (Jackie) Belton of Darlington, SC; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Butler of Ridgeway, SC; three sisters, Mattie Grant of Hempstead, NY, Emma Jones of Jacksonville, NC and Hattie Nunley of Camden, SC; one brother, John (Surethea) Belton of Ansonia, CT; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
