Mrs. Sutton’s First Grade Class Newsletter Week 14 November 13 – November 17 2017 THIS WEEK: Lang. Arts: verbs, exclamation marks Reading: “If you take a Mouse to School”, “The Monkeys and the Hats”, “Jane is Late”, “On my Way to School”, “One Monkey too Small” Math: Greater than/Less than, number lines Social Studies: Thanksgiving READING and SPELLING TESTS ARE ON THURSDAY THIS WEEK DUE TO EARLY RELEASE ON FRIDAY

PTO Meeting @ 5:00 War Dancer Clinic KONA ICE Early Release – 11:30 NO SCHOOL - Holiday
For the safety of all students, please be mindful of the drop off and pick up times. Doors are locked until 7:00am. All classes begin at 7:40am. Dismissal is at 3:00pm.
HOMEWORK Each night, please remind your student to pull and read from the books placed each week in their book buddy bag. Please encourage students to take responsibility for returning the books to school daily in their book buddy bag. Each day, students will mark their behavior calendar. PLEASE INITIAL THE BEHAVIOR CALENDAR each day signifying that you have seen your child’s behavior color for the day. We have started Accelerated Reading . Your child will be bringing home a library book to read and test for points and incentives. Please remind your student to read their Book at least 3 times before testing. Please read to or with your child for a minimum of 20 minutes per night.
Class Rules: Listen and follow directions Talk with permission/inside voice Keep your hands, feet, other objects to yourself Stay in your own area Always walk on the sidewalks and in the hallways Behavior notebooks go home daily in the student binder. GREEN Ready to Learn ORANGE Make better choices RED Consequences RECENTLY, our class has reworked our class rules and behavior contracts. After the holidays, we will begin a new behavior program.
