GRADING PROCEDURES The grading scale used for this course will be as follows: A= 10090% B= 8980% C= 7970% D= 6965% F= 640 DAILY ASSIGNMENTS/HOMEWORK POLICY As a rule, I prefer daily class written assignments be finished in class. However, this does not always happen. Thus, an assignment can become homework, especially if it is unfinished,
needs editing or a final copy is needed. The homework must be returned the following class day. I suggest your child have a “HOMEWORK” folder in their binder so that parents can check it on a daily basis. NOTE: If your child plans to be absent from the class, it is HIS/HER responsibility to see me prior to being absent, to obtain any assignments he/she may miss. This would pertain to extracurricular activities or scheduled appointments, etc. I will be glad to give them their work and allow the appropriate number of makeup days as determined by the school district for excused absences. A zero or placeholder grade is recorded until the late work is returned. Work must be returned in a timely manner. If the work is not returned, a zero will stand as the grade for the missing assignment. (See school handbook and policy regarding absences.) ASSESSMENTS AND RECITATION REQUIREMENTS Your child may have weekly information quizzes over grammar, parts of speech and other English related topics. NOTE: Weekly information quizzes may be scheduled on Fridays or as pop quizzes randomly. Oral recitations will be required for points. Watch for postings of the recitations on my webpage as to when they will be due. A copy of the oral recitations will be sent home for your child to study well in advance r to the due date shown on the web page. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS Please read the student handbook and district policy referring to discipline. I expect students to utilize the life principles of courtesy and respect to facilitate a mutual respect between students and teachers. We recite a Cache School Creed daily as it sets our school’s expectation for each other. I will use redirection, student conferencing, possible parent contacts via telephone, or email for parental involvement, if needed. If severe disruption occurs, office referrals will be utilized.
Your child will earn his/her first 100 points for returning this portion signed by the parent/guardian. Students: Please sign and return the next class day we meet! ____Yes, I have read this class syllabus.
