My conjecture. Stuff that is purely my conjecture is in italics. I posit the same motive for Don killing Hae that was given to Adnan killing Hae, jealousy/anger. Hae spent the evening of January 12th with Don. Adnan called her, quite possibly while she was still with Don. That night she wrote Adnan's new phone number and the words "I miss you, baby" in her diary. "Baby" was her long-used pet name for Adnan. Of course, she could have transferred it to Don and that would not be strange (as those of us who have loved deeply more than once can attest), but it is "noted" as Sarah would say. It seems clear that she and Adnan had maintained a cordial friendship even after their most recent breakup and after Don was in the picture. At one point she wrote a note to Don that said "sorry I couldn't stay." which never made it to Don. The note doesn't line up with January 13 because it references a wrestling match which occurred the week earlier. The word "hotel" occurs several times in police files but nothing ever came of it….for lack of effort? Lack of effort fits the pattern of Ritz et. al. A hotel floor is a good location to store a body, face-down, in the evening for an extended period of time…say until 8 to 10 hours after she died. Don got to his home on January 13th around between 6:00 and 7:00. (Find official records for exact time). By then, the police had already tried to contact him. Don did not contact the police until after midnight. (Again, find official records for the exact time.) This is the expected amount of time for the level of livor mortis manifest in Hae's body to set in. Hae and Don met the week before for a hotel "rendezvous" after school and before the wrestling match. The note never made it to Don for reasons unknown and unknowable. I think either they planned to meet again on the 13th, or Hae asked to see Don, before she picked up her cousin from daycare. Hae left school on the 13th because she had "somewhere to go" or "something to do"…I can't recall but those are close enough. She met Don and during that meeting it came out that she still had feelings for Adnan. Perhaps she even met Don to tell him that she was breaking the relationship. He got angry and "snapped"…as they say.
