Learn how to mix powdered dyes to dye natural fibers (such as cotton and silk) beautiful shades of color. Add pattern to your fabrics through a simple Japanese wrapping technique called Arashi Shibori. Class includes one yard of fabric, and one blank scarf or tote bag to dye. No previous experience necessary.

During this class, you will create your own reference book of basic hand embroidery stitches using fun colors of felt and fabric as the pages and your own embroidery practice for the “pictures”. Beginning Hand Embroidery

Intermediate Hand Embroidery

A fun project for gifts or your own sewing pleasure, leave this class with a small canvas tote embroidered with a design of your choice. This class is perfect for students who have some experience with embroidery. Don’t worry if you’re rusty! We’ll review basic stitches and best-result techniques before we start sewing. If you are an experienced embroiderer and don’t need the review, please come anyway – you’re welcome to start the project on your own and we’d love to have your company. Create Your Own Greeting Cards

In this class, learn a variety of simple printing & collage methods (including making your own rubber stamp!) to create your own set of individualized, handmade greeting cards. Using little equipment and simple materials, you will leave with the ability to create images and patterns on both paper and fabrics. Take home your set of 10 cards & envelopes along with the stamp(s) you made and instructions on how to continue printing at home. No previous experience necessary.

Using similar techniques as in the greeting card class, choose paper and ribbon instead of blank greeting cards to create your own store of wrapping décor. Stamps can be re-used for other surfaces at home (t-shirts, skirts, envelopes, etc). No previous experience necessary.

Born and raised in Artesia, New Mexico, Mary Beth now lives in Farmington, New Mexico, where she works from her home studio to create her fine art and share her knowledge with others through her classes. Before arriving back to her home state in 2008, Mary Beth lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and served on the faculty and staff of the Kansas City Art Institute, where she received her B.F.A. in Fiber Arts.
